Lynbrook lodge names Elk of the Year

Former New York Elks Lodge District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler John Nuzzi Sr. recently received New York Elks Lodge No. 1’s Elk of the Year honor.

Nuzzi stepped back from being a lodge officer this year, but has continued to take on more lodge commitments and has gone above and beyond for the Elks. He works on many of the lodge’s events and creates brochures, organizes Flag Day and memorial services while also running several committees.

He said he is proud of many of his roles with the lodge, including serving as chairman for the Elks Camp Bristol 9/11 ceremony, serving as village liasion, on the fraternal committee, as government relation and hoop shoot chairma and working with local children. Nuzzi said he also enjoys cooking and preparing lodge dinners, organizing fundraisers to support veterans and those suffering from cerebral palsy and acquiring grants to help others.

As publicity chairman, Nuzzi has earned many accolades for the lodge and for himself. Over the past year, he has helped Elks Exalted Ruler Lisa Moldovan as one of her chair officers, and he has brought in several new members to the lodge.
