The field could become more crowded with candidates for the 4th Congressional District seat being vacated by Democratic Rep. Kathleen Rice as it is expected that Malverne Mayor Keith Corbett will make an announcement “one way or another, he said,” if he is running.

Corbett, 42, a Democrat, joins County Legislator Carrié Solages, former Town of Supervisor Laura Gillen and County Legislator Siela Bynoe. As of now, the lone Republican in the field is tech CEO Bill Staniford, of Lawrence. The primary is June 28,

An attorney with the Uniondale-based form of Harris Beach PLLC, Corbett served as Malverne’s deputy before running for the top elected post in 2019. He has lived in the village for roughly 12 years and served as a village trustee since 2014.

Corbett's legal experience  is in public finance and economic development. He earned a bachelor's degree from Dickenson College  in Pennsylavania in 2001 and  graduated from New York Law School four years later.
