Members of the Merrick Fire Department recently visited Chatterton Elementary School to teach a lesson on fire safety. The children were able to get a close-up view of the firefighting equipment, and the fire volunteers emphasized with the children the “stop, drop and roll” of protecting themselves in the event that their clothing were to catch fire.
