Monaghan clinches another victory at MSG

“Irish” Seanie Monaghan continued his winning streak at Madison Square Garden last Saturday, when he defeated Matt “The Predator” Vanda. Monaghan, who is now 20-0, defeated Vanda (45-16) by TKO at 2:51 of the first round when Vanda suffered a torn bicep and was unable to continue the fight. The fight marked Monaghan’s sixth appearance at the Garden. He fought Vanda as the undercard of the main event featuring undefeated boxer Mikey Garcia, who successfully defended his WBO Super Featherweight Championship against challenger Juan Carlos Burgos. Monaghan said that he is hoping for a world title shot against Bernard Hopkins, currently the International Boxing Federation’s Light Heavyweight Champion.
