Myra helped create the Oceanside-based security company Allied Central Station Alarms, Inc. with her husband of 54 years, Carl, and eventually their sons joined the business. She was also a journalist/publicist who fell in love with the publishing world at an early age, selling her first freelance article to "The Woman Magazine" for $5 as a teenager. She served as editor at "Parent's Magazine," was named a Newsday Special Correspondent in 1964 and published over 450 freelance articles.

Myra grew up in the Five Towns and graduated from Lawrence High School before receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Journalism from the University of Bridgeport in 1956. Her extensive professional career included being executive director of the Diaper Service Industry of New York, helping to bring recycling to Long Island through her work with Reynold's Metals and serving as executive director of the Cedarhurst Business Association. She was also an information specialist for Nassau County, worked for the Dept. of Drug and Alcohol Addiction and the Dept. of Senior Citizens. She handled special events for the Dept. of Drug and Alcohol such as the first annual Handi-Capable Day, and assisted Gov. Hugh Carey in the New York Party for the Children of New York during the Year of the Child.

Myra was a member of Temple Emanuel of Lynbrook and was also a member of their Sisterhood. She was a member of The National Council of Jewish Woman and the Council of Chambers, Nassau County.

In addition to her husband Carl, Myrna is also survived by her four children, Joyce (Mark) Schustek of Long Beach, Jonathan of Lido Beach, Michael (Michele) of North Bellmore, and Jack (Rita) of North Merrick; grandchildren Andrew, Samantha, Alexandra, Jennifer and Michael; brothers Lewis of Chevy Chase, Md. and Gary (Laura) Seide of Pacific City, Oregon, and uncle, Dr. Leonard (Shirley) Seide of Palm Beach Gardens, Fl.
