No flooding in the flood zone

Posted

To the Editor:

Thankfully, Irene has passed through Valley Stream, hopefully without too much damage and devastation. One thing that did not happen is that there was no flooding in Gibson, where the new flood maps were effective in September 2009. Gibson Boulevard did not even have a puddle, much less a storm surge going to 11 feet, 4 inches.

This definitely proves that the FEMA science was wrong. It is time to take these homeowners out of the AE flood zone and put everyone back to the X zone where they belong and restore our property values. This was the 100-year storm according to meteorologists and newscasters over the weekend, and there was no flooding in Gibson. All the homeowners in these bogus maps must contact Senator Schumer’s office and demand that we are removed from the flood zone immediately.
