The Oceanside Chamber of Commerce held its annual Installation Dinner Dance at the Oceanside Jewish Center on Feb. 27, where it honored four civic-minded people for their service.

The new chamber officers, sworn in that night, include President Maria Heller, First Vice President Adam Kritzberg, Second Vice President Andrew Mallor, Treasurer Kim Kellar, Recording Secretary Gail Carlin and Corresponding Secretary Leslie Braun. The newly installed directors are Bob and Betsy Transom, Matt Graci, Alan Levine, Anthony Capone, Stuart Berr, Michael Graham, Ryan Parkinson and Alan Schwartz.

Heller thanked outgoing President Tom Lanning for his service.

“We have established a Beautification Committee, Property Management Committee, Triangle Committee and Clean Up of Lawson Boulevard Committee,” Heller said, inviting members to become involved. Businesses were invited to post on the chamber’s Facebook page, which now has over 600 “likes,” she said.

Lynn Woods, who was named Citizen of the Year, served as PTA co-president at School No. 2 for two years, then as vice president for membership of the Oceanside High School PTA. She also served as president of the Oceanside Council of PTAs from 2013 to 2015. The New York State PTA has honored Woods with the Honorary Life and Distinguished Service awards.

Residents of Rockville Centre, the Woods family has worshiped at St. Agnes Cathedral for 25 years. Lynn is now a teaching assistant at Covert Elementary School in Rockville Centre.

She thanked her mother and father for instilling in her a sense of community and giving back, and credited her husband and children, pointing out that the time she spends serving the community is a sacrifice for them.
