Meet Long Island’s Poet Laureates
In recognition of National Poetry Month, Peter F. Dugan of the North Sea Poetry Scene hosts a special “open mic” poetry event featuring Nassau County’s Poet Laureate Gayle Teller and Suffolk County’s first woman Poet Laureate, Tammy Nuzzo-Morgan, from 2 - 4 p.m. on April 18.


A Little Prose & Poetry
For National Poetry month in April, inspirational instructor Barbara Novak will demonstrate how the “focused poetry” techniques of imagery, figurative language and compression enhance various writing styles. Please bring writing supplies. The event begins at 7 p.m. on April 21.


Mark Twain: Telling Tales
David Houston stars as Mark Twain in a performance that captures the author’s sparkling wit and humor. Tickets, which are limited to two per person, will be available beginning April 18 to Oceanside School District residents and April 21 to non-residents, if available. The event will take place at 2 p.m. on April 28.


“Painting” with Polymer Clay at the Oceanside Library
A startling kaleidoscope of color, shapes, whimsical designs, and rich details are vivid components of Joan Israel’s art exhibit “Painting with Polymer Clay.” The exhibit will open on May 1 and remain on display at the library through June 30.

Stitchy Women Knitting Group
This is an informal group of knitters who get together to exchange advice on knitting projects. All experience levels are welcome. The next meeting is from 7-8:30 p.m. on April 19.


Chair Yoga
Can’t get down on the floor? Try yoga on a chair with Sandye Pinz. This class will provide beginning instruction and practice for people who feel they may not be flexible enough for standard yoga. The next class is from 1-2 p.m. on April 20. Register at the circulation desk.
