There will be a contested election next month for school District 24’s Board of Education. The incumbent candidates in Districts 13 and 30 will be running unopposed.

In District 24, incumbent Donna LaRocco is opposed by challenger Narendra “Nat” Patel. LaRocco is seeking her second full term on the District 24 board. First elected in 2009, she is also now serving her first year as a trustee on the Central High School District board. This is Patel’s his first run for a board seat.

In District 13, trustees William Stris and Jeanne Greco Jacobs are both seeking re-election to three-year terms. Both also serve on the high school board.

District 30 has just one candidate on the ballot for the lone spot up this year. Cristobal Stewart, first elected in 2008 to serve out the remainder of an unexpired seat, will be running unopposed for a five-year term.

Last year, all three Valley Stream districts had contested races. Board of Education elections will be held in conjunction with the budget votes on May 15.
