Pedestrian robbed in Valley Stream

A pedestrian was robbed in the west end of Valley Stream on Friday morning. Police say a 20-year-old woman was walking at Ocean and Garfield avenues about 5:30 a.m. when she encountered three men standing by a white minivan.

According to police, the woman took her cell phone out of her purse and one of the men snatched it. As she attempted to run, another subject grabbed her purse, causing the strap to break and throwing the woman to the ground.

The three subjects fled in the white mini van eastbound on Garfield Avenue with the purse. The woman was not injured.
