Robbery part of countywide pattern, police say

Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly robbed the Gamestop on Sunrise Highway in Merrick at knifepoint Tuesday night. According to Nassau County police, the robbery is likely part of a pattern of armed robberies involving a knife, of which there have been eight in the county recently.

The suspect entered the store at around 9 p.m. On Tuesday, armed with a large kitchen knife, and demanded money, police said. The employee complied and the suspect fled eastbound on Sunrise Highway toward Henry Street with an undisclosed amount of cash.

According to police there were two employees and no employees in the store at the time.

The suspect is described as male, possibly Hispanic or black, wearing a black-hooded jacket, jeans, gray gloves, a black knit cap and dark mask.
