Police nab three for drugs near Mepham High

Three people were arrested on Fish Avenue, about 50 feet from Mepham High School in North Bellmore, and charged with drug possession at about 1 p.m. on Monday, Lt. Kevin Smith of the Nassau County Police Department said.

"We had three people who were seen on the property in Mepham High School," Smith said. "School officials alerted police."

Sydney Spinner, 21, of Port Jefferson, and Sarah Rabie, 25, of Levittown, appeared to be under the influence of controlled substances and were taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow. Spinner and Rabie were charged with criminal trespass for being on school grounds.

Emmett Dalton, a 20-year-old North Bellmore resident, was also seen on Mepham property, Smith said. He was seen in possession of a bag that he threw away. Dalton was apprehended on Fish Avenue with Spinner and Rabie, where he was found in possession of 42 blue pills, later determined to be Valium, and a hypodermic needle. Dalton was also found in possession of a watch stolen from a Steven Avenue home.

Dalton was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and criminal trespass.
