Police seek Bellmore comedy club brawlers

Posted

A brawl erupted at the Brokerage Comedy Club in Bellmore on Friday night, sending a club employee to the hospital — and the suspects involved are still at large, according to police.

At 10:12 p.m., according to Nassau Count police, a group of seven people — police said the group consisted of two black men, three black women and two Hispanic men — tried to leave the comedy club without paying.

A 55-year-old security guard tried to stop them, and was pushed to the floor, where he was punched and kicked before one of the men tried to take a holstered gun from the guard's waistband.

A female employee was knocked to the floor as all seven suspects fled, police said. The woman was taken to an area hospital with head and neck injuries, while the security guard was treated at the scene for a head contusion.

According to police, the man who first pushed the security guard to the ground was described as a black male in his 30s, with a thin mustache and beard, wearing a dark shirt and baseball cap.

The seven suspects fled northbound on Bellmore Avenue in a dark-colored SUV, police said.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the suspects or the incident to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
