Pt. Lookout man charged with manslaughter for DWI death

Shawn Gallivan, 22, of Point Lookout was indicted by a grand jury on April 9 for manslaughter in the second degree, vehicular manslaughter in the first and second degree and aggravated DWI.

According Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice, Gallivan was arrested on October 17 after police say he hit and killed David King, 53, of Long Beach while driving eastbound on East Broadway near the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard at 3:10 a.m.

Originally charged with leaving the scene of an accident, the additional charges were included after an investigation done by Rice’s office. Gallivan is due back in court on May 7 and faces up to 15 years in prison if he is convicted.
