With current restrictions preventing the usual holiday celebrations from happening, the Village of Rockville Centre got creative and found a different way to foster holiday spirit this year. On Sunday, the village held its first “RVC Holiday Lights Night,” a community wide decorating contest. Homeowners were invited to dig out their lights and decorations to showcase their holiday spirit. More than 80 homes participated in the contest and were included in a community map that was available to residents. More than 3,000 votes were cast for winners in five categories: Most Popular, Martha Stewart, Clark Griswold, Party of Lights and Family Friendly. Honorable mention went to homes at 29 Strathmore Lane, 148 Demott Avenue, 21 Hamilton Street and 6 Olive Court. Ballots were delivered to Village Hall, where Santa and his helpers met participants at their cars and gave the children candy canes.
