Rockville Centre parents invited to drug awareness presentation

The Rockville Centre School District’s Drug and Alcohol Task Force will sponsor “In Plain Sight,” a presentation for parents of students from kindergarten through twelfth grade, in an effort to raise awareness about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse for their children. It is scheduled to take place on March 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the South Side High School auditorium.

Sponsored by the middle and high school PTAs, the presentation will feature discussions led by Rockville Centre Police Commissioner Charles Gennario and Art Rosenthal, executive director of Confide Counseling. They will speak and take questions about the drug epidemic sweeping through Long Island.

“It’s really vital,” said South Side Middle School Assistant Principal Rose Cammarata. “Don’t think your child is too young.”

The event will also be supported by Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), Youth Decide and the Rockville Centre Youth Council.
