Roscoe The Remarkable Cat

Posted

Roscoe, A Tabby Cat of Oceanside Residents did not come home on April 23rd.His family spent 17 days of walks around the neighborhood, calling and visiting animal shelters, posting flyers and speaking to neighbors in search of their feline family member. On Sunday, May 10th a neighbor came knocking on their door stating there is a cat stuck in a sewer well from around the corner. In disbelieve but with high hopes Roscoe's family went to the site to find an amazing group of people that were as anxious as them to rescue the unknown cat from the sewer well. A residence of the condos, off Atlantic Ave named Alyssa heard the meow's of a cat and a bell ringing which was on his collar that was coming from the sewer well. She had informed her parents. Calling different numbers looking for assistance in freeing the crying cat not having any success and getting frustrated they called upon The Oceanside Salamander Fire Dept. While waiting for the arrival of the fire department, Roscoe's family attempted to look down the quiet sewer well to see if it was their cat. Nothing could be seen or heard at that moment until Sandy called out the name "Roscoe" into the sewer well-on that note the cat went crazy meowing louder than loud responding to her voice. Tears of happiness were flowing.

Everyone stepped back as the Fire Men approached the scene. Within minutes they pulled off the sewer cover, examined the situation, placed a ladder down the narrow opening checked for any possible gas fumes and Firefighter Danny Leboff went down the 10 foot deep well bringing up the frantic feline which turned out to be Roscoe, the family became overwhelmed with Joy and the great neighbors all applauded and some sheded tears of their own. Roscoe clung onto his petmom, his grateful family rushed him home thanking everyone for their support. They bath him and fed him and took him for a full examine from Dr. Gower and the wonderful staff of Woods Ave. Animal Clinic. Roscoe is on his way to recovery and needless to say getting lots of hugs and kisses from his family. Roscoe and his family extends their deepest appreciation to all that was involved, especially The Oceanside Fire Department and Alyssa with out them he would of not had the chance to live out his 9 Lives. A happy ending to a Purr-fect Mother's Day!
