The Rockville Centre Little League concluded its 63rd season in grand fashion on Nov. 20 at its annual awards dinner at the Coral House in Baldwin.

The league honored its regular season champions, post-season Williamsport all stars, and individual MVP and sportsmanship award winners in both baseball and softball. In addition, the league recognized two long time board members, Rich Joyce and Frank Cecere, who are retiring from Little League service this year. Both were presented with the league’s highest individual honor, the Mort Gellar Award, for their years of dedicated service.

The Village of Rockville Centre also honored Little League coach Al Ford, who arranged the donation of eight automated external defibrillators for use at every Little League venue. Al’s company, Cardiac Science Inc., has also provided defibrillator training for coaches and other volunteers.

New York Yankees pitcher Matt Daley, along with Dayna White of the NCAA Division II East Region champion Molloy College softball team, served as the event’s featured guest speakers.

“Tonight we celebrate the accomplishments of the players of Rockville Centre Little League but also say thanks to the people that make what we do possible — coaches, managers, commissioners and board,” said league president Tom Bucaria. “These folks are already preparing for the 2014 season, our 64th year of service to the youth of Rockville Centre.”
