Snow across Long Island has ended, it's cleanup time

Posted

The biggest snowstorm in two years struck Long Island today, which prompted just about every school to close or compel schools to switch to remote learning.

County, town and villages were out in force across the municipalities salting, plowing and pushing the snow out of the way.

Roads were hazardous in the early going but the primary roads have been cleared and secondary streets are being cleared. There is help, especially on the South Shore as the moderate temperature has the snow melting.

JFK Airport reported 4.2 inches, LaGuardia Airport received 3.3 inches, Central Park had 3.2 inches and nearly 5 inches feel at Newark International Airport across the Hudson River in New Jersey.

To help ensure streets get plowed, park vehicles in the driveway or out of the wat for curb to curb plowing.

If shoveling, take care to take it east, slow and rest every few minutes. Do not ignore th cold, muscle srains pain or even frostbite.
