The Home Care Association of New York has appointed Nurse Nancy Helenek, the administrative director of care continuum at South Nassau Communities Hospital, to its board of directors.
The HCA’s board includes some of the home care industry’s most experienced administrators and leaders who represent the full continuum of home care programs and regional demographics. “I am eager to work with my colleagues on the board as well as the nearly 400 members of the HCA to promote cost-effective, high-quality home and community-based services to the people of New York state,” Helenek said.
Established in 1978, the HCA works closely with state and federal legislators, regulatory agencies and payors to interpret, challenge or support policies that affect the home care profession, as well as serving as an advocate for home care providers, supplying them information and best practices to help improve the development and quality of home care services.
Under Helenek’s leadership and direction, South Nassau’s home care program has earned a spot in the HomeCare Elite listing of the top 25 percent of home health care providers in the United States. The listing is based on a collection of performance measures, including quality of care, quality improvement, patient experience, process measure implementation and financial performance. In her role, Helenek manages the administrative, clinical and financial operations of South Nassau’s Certified Home Health Agency. She works collaboratively with hospital leadership to ensure a seamless transition of care for patients across the continuum. Additional responsibilities include developing operational plans, managing performance improvement and financial services, maintaining program compliance with applicable laws and regulations, coordinating and directing patient care and responding to community and patient needs.
South Nassau Home Health Care is licensed by the New York State Department of Health and certified to participate in Medicare, Medicaid and Blue Cross programs, as well as accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations.
