About 225 children and their counselors gathered at Barrett Park for the first time this summer on June 27 to mark the beginning of the Valley Stream’s annual summer camp program.
The program, better known as Camp Barrett, is held on weekdays from 9 a.m. to noon at the village’s southernmost park, and is open to children entering kindergarten through sixth-grade. Regular activities include sports, games, arts and crafts, running through the sprinklers and spending time on the playground. There are also a host of field trips. Camp ends on Aug. 10.
