A person was struck and killed by a train at the Long Island Rail Road station in Seaford Friday afternoon, causing 20-minute delays on the Babylon Branch in both directions, the LIRR said.
On Twitter, the LIRR said that the victim, an “unauthorized person” on the tracks, was struck at 3:36 p.m. The agency did not provide further details about the victim.
“The LIRR is experiencing scattered, system-wide residual delays east of Jamaica averaging 5-10 minutes due to congestion,” the railroad said.
Nassau County police responded to the station. All service was restored at 5:30 p.m. with minor delays.
This is a developing story.
