Truck day delights nursery school kids

Sunny skies for annual event

Three-year-old Briella DellItalia grinned from ear to ear as village worker Joe Zuccaro lifted her into the bucket of a cherry picker truck at Truck Day, the annual event held by Holy Trinity Nursery School and Grace Methodist Nursery School.

“I love Truck Day!” Zuccaro said, with a smile as big as the nearby children’s. “The kids love it.”

Behind him, a child sitting in the driver’s seat of a village truck blared its horn. Then blared it again. And again — and didn’t let go for 20 seconds.

Diane Panzarino, director of Grace Methodist Nursery School, said that the event, which Holy Trinity started more than 20 years ago, is a great opportunity for local parents and their children to connect. “It’s nice because it does unite the two nursery schools,” she said. “It brings the pre-K kids of the community together.”
