Utopia Home Care's Martinez receives achievement award

  On Oct. 24, Manuel F. Martinez, co-founder and owner of Utopia Home Care, was honored by the Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce during the organization’s 21st annual gala at the Long Island Marriott in Uniondale. Martinez previously served as the chamber’s president.

  A native New Yorker, Martinez received his Bachelor of Science at Fordham University and his Master’s of Business Administration from Adelphi University. He also served four years in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of sergeant. Prior to forming Utopia Home Care, Martinez worked as a management analyst and a systems planner for two of the top six accounting firms. He also worked for numerous state and federal governmental agencies.

  Martinez and his wife Angelina founded Utopia Home Care, a family-owned home health care agency, in 1983. It is currently the largest minority-owned business on Long Island. Utopia Home Care, which is headquartered in Kings Park, has two Nassau County offices in Rockville Centre and Westbury.

  On Oct. 1, Martinez was one of eight Hispanic Americans honored by the Town of Hempstead Hispanic Heritage Committee during the town’s annual celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month at Hempstead Town Hall. The committee recognized him for his significant contributions to the community

  In addition to serving as Utopia’s founder, Martinez is a board member for the United Way of Long Island, and a member of the Huntington Hispanic Task Force. He previously served as president of the Association of Long Island Health Care Providers, and as a member of the Suffolk County Executive Hispanic Advisory Board, the Council of Overseers of the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County and Our Lady of Consolation.Martinez has received numerous additional honors.
