Valley Stream Fireworks show expected to draw thousands

More than 2,000 people are expected to gather at Fireman’s Field, on the corner of Emerson Place and E. Euclid Street, on July 4 at 6:30 p.m. for the Village of Valley Stream and the Valley Stream Chamber of Commerce’s 27th annual fireworks show.

“It’s a great chance to meet and greet others from the community,” said Mayor Ed Fare.

Musicians from Pennsylvania-based Ace DJs will keep the crowds entertained before the show, while congregants from Bethlehem Assembly of God will provide children with beach balls and face paint. The night will end with a fireworks display presented by Bethpage-based Bay Fireworks.

“It’s a great evening, between the entertainment and the display,” said Dominick Minerva, the president of the Chamber of Commerce.

To ensure that the residents stay safe during the show, Director of Operations Jay Hunter had to work with the village’s public safety, auxiliary police, code enforcement and Nassau County’s Fifth Precinct. The various law enforcement officials will be securing the site and checking everybody’s bags.

“I have to coordinate all that and make sure this all goes off without a hitch,” Hunter said, adding, “I think people should come and expect to have a good time.”

Tickets for the fireworks show, which cost $8, can be bought in advance at the Arthur J. Hendrickson Pool, the Valley Stream Community Center, the Village Hall, the Henry Waldinger Memorial Library and at Sip This. Tickets can also be bought at the gate for $10. Admission is free for children under the age of 2. Credit cards will not be accepted.

Funds from the ticket sales will benefit the Valley Stream Chamber of Commerce.

Parking will be available at the Arthur J. Hendrickson Pool facility with free transportation to Fireman’s Field. Chairs, strollers and drones will not be allowed into the park. For more information, call (516) 872-6003.
