Seeking information
Fifth Squad detectives are asking for information about an incident that occurred last week in which an unknown man chased a young Lakeview girl.
As the 9-year-old girl exited a bus from school around 4 p.m. on March 1 near the intersection of Pinelake Drive and Champlain Avenue, the man, who was only described as being about five-feet-five inches and wearing a blue jacket, yelled to her to “come here.” Frightened, the girl began to run to her house and the man walked quickly behind her. When she entered her house, she looked out the window and saw that he was no longer there.
The girl reported the incident to her mother, who called police to document the occurrence.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous.
Between 6 p.m. on Feb. 23 and 10 a.m. the following morning, vandals smashed the windshields or windows of six cars parked on Arden Boulevard, Jackson Avenue, Maple Street, Park Avenue and Wilson Street.
A similar spree was reported in Massapequa and Massapequa Park the previous weekend: between 6 p.m. on Feb. 18 and 12:20 p.m. the following day, the windows and mirrors of 21 vehicles were shattered.
The investigation is ongoing and detectives request anyone with information regarding these crimes to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous.
