Vote for King in the 3rd Congressional District

Posted

This year, the choice for the 3rd Congressional District seat is an easy one: Cast your vote for the incumbent, U.S. Rep. Peter King, a Republican from Seaford.

We have disagreed with King’s stances on any number of issues, most notably his unwavering support for the Iraq war under the Bush administration. We also disagreed with his decision to vote against the recent Education Jobs and Medicaid Assistance Act, which provided $16.1 billion for Medicaid and $10 billion to school districts. The aid infusion to school systems was intended to help districts avoid teacher layoffs.

But we appreciate King’s tenacity in fighting for more federal dollars for Long Island and the greater metropolitan area. In particular, King has worked hard to bring home more money to upgrade security in New York City and its environs.

At the same time, we like the fact that King has worked in bipartisan fashion to fully fund high-speed rail for the Northeast corridor. Anyone who has driven Interstate 95 knows that this region desperately needs high-speed rail lines.

Moreover, King, a member of Congress for 17 years, has the experience and the connections to effectively lead. His opponent, Democrat Howard Kudler, while enthusiastic, lacks political experience.

Cast your ballot for King.
