Under the direction of Peter Kravitz, the Wantagh Warrior newspaper received seven individual journalism awards during the annual Empire State School Press Association contest, held at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications on Nov. 3.

The district’s single gold award was acquired by 2017 alumna Kate DiGraziano for a portfolio of entertainment reviews featured in last year’s issues. In addition, alumnae columnist Rebecca Goldrick took home a silver award for a front-page description of life as a quadruplet and Allie Kelsey received a bronze in the columnist category.

Honorable mentions were also garnered by Tyler Albrecht in the columnist category, alumnus Nolan Foley in sports news, current Editor in Chief Grace Anne McKenna in the news story category and Isabelle Samudio for entertainment review writing.

In the last 26 years, Wantagh journalism students have acquired more than 200 awards for their work on the school paper, Kravitz noted.
