Weather alert

The national weather service has issued winter weather advisory and a hazardous weather outlook for our area. The forecast calls for a chance of snow then mostly cloudy, with a low around 15. Wind chill values between zero and 10. Blustery, with a northwest wind 16 to 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Roads are reported very slippery and numerous accident.

Both the Island Park and Oceanside Fire Departments are on standby. They have responded to multiple motor vehicle accidents and advise that you stay off the roads.

Be aware that although trucks are out salting and sanding, with temperatures projected in the teens and single digits, even salted roads freeze.
