Stewart said he believes that District 30 is in such good shape for next year because of the long-term financial planning by administrators. He said he is particularly happy about the addition of a psychologist to support the emotional needs of the children, as well as additional aides. He said that more sets of eyes are proven to reduce instances of bullying. “The science out there tells us you need to have more adult supervision,” he said.

The district is expecting about $5.4 million in state aid next year, but that could increase once the state budget is passed. Rutkoske said how additional money would be used is up to the board, but it could help offset the loss of federal grant money, which is expected because of sequestration.

The district will also seek voter approval to spend money from an existing Capital Reserve Fund for new ceilings, lights and ventilation units at the Forest Road School, as well as a new district communications system.

Total budget: $33,207,909
Increase: 2.48 percent
