Meeks also said he plans to work on an infrastructure bill that will help improve bridges, roads and ports, which would also create jobs.

Marthone said that job creation locally is important to him and wants to help the business and entrepreneurial communities, while developing the younger generation’s business acumen, encouraging them to be job creators.

Marthone added that a quality education for children locally, and nationwide, is also an important goal for him. “We need to concern ourselves with the proper education of our children,” Marthone said. “Our children are lagging behind in the new global community. We need to do better. So they can compete in the global marketplace.”

Meeks said that his best character trait is his energy and commitment to his position, adding that he works seven days a week and often 12 or 13 hours per day. “I love people,” he said. “I do this because I love what I do. I love seeing and making a difference in people’s lives. That is the most rewarding aspect.”
