Saying goodbye to Summer in Seaford

Posted

With the first day of school rapidly approaching, Seaford families are enjoying the final days of the youngsters’ summer recess at local parks.

In the Seaford School District, the 2016-17 academic year begins on Sept. 6. With about a week left of summer vacation, children are rushing to Cedar Creek Park to have some fun.

Situated near the Wantagh border on Merrick Road, Cedar Creek has been part of the county park system since 1975. Nassau leaders encouraged residents to take advantage of the eight tennis, 12 handball and paddleball and three basketball courts, as well as various athletic fields and playgrounds.

The 259-acre park is also the bike entranceway to Jones and Tobay beaches. Last weekend, several families took a rides along the trails, with some even rollerblading. After all, there is a rink within Cedar Creek, which is open year-round.

Younger visitors also had a blast on the playground last weekend, laughing as they climbed on the jungle gym. Pets even have an area of their own, as Cedar Creek features a dog run.
