Sharing a nest — a tale of two sisters
My sister is off to a new life, and we are still here, with one more empty room. Why do people keep leaving? We went through this before, when the kids went off to college, and my heart is ping-ponging in the same way. Such uncertainty. Such doubt. My sister will have a big house to maintain and a mortgage to pay and lawns to mow and basements to fill with gourds. She will have neighbors. And a stunning electric bill for the freaking towel warmer.
My baby sister; she’s only 62. Can she possibly be ready to live on her own?
