Bomb scare in Valley Stream Target lot

Suspicious package was nothing dangerous

A suspicious package caused a scare near the Green Acres Mall Monday afternoon, but police and bomb squad detectives found nothing dangerous.

A customer parking in the Target lot noticed a package in one of the spaces and called 911 at 1:50 p.m. Officers found an oval-shaped piece of metal with suspicious packaging inside a 10-inch by 10-inch cardboard box.

The bomb squad closed off the area and two detectives examined the package. Using robotics, it was eventually determined that the suspicious package was was a steel compressor with no harmful material.
