Congrats, Ida!

To the Editor:
On behalf of the Valley Stream village board, I would like to congratulate Ida D’Angelo on being named the Herald’s 2011 Person of the Year and thank Andrew Hackmack and the Herald for its superb choice.
Ida is a longtime resident of our village, and as the article beautifully points out, an active humanitarian in countless ways within our community. Ida has touched the lives of so many people in such special ways; she is a person that makes change for the better and we all benefit by her altruism.
However, perhaps most importantly to us, Ida is a valued and cherished member of our village work force. A standard-bearer in our Tax Department, Ida is often the person our village residents meet in Village Hall when they are paying a tax bill, asking a question or seeking information. She is, to many, the face of village government, and we could not ask for a friendlier, more knowledgeable representative.
Congratulation, Ida, on this well-deserved honor, and congratulations to the Herald on a job well done!
