Cub scouts to host open house Friday in Valley Stream

Posted

For the first time in nearly two decades, the Boy Scouts of America has added a new program to include kindergarten kids, and on Sept. 16, Valley Stream Boy Scouts Pack 367 is hosting an open house at the Holy Name of Mary School cafeteria.

Children previously had to wait until first grade to join the Scouts. The inaugural meeting for the Pack 367 Lions in Nassau County took pace on Sept. 9, and the group also led the color guard for the scouts at the Sept. 11 memorial ceremony at Arthur J. Hendrickson Park.

The open house starts at 7:30 p.m. Friday, and interested parties are encouraged to sign up for the group. The school is located at 90 S. Grove St. and the entrance is on the corner of South Grove Street and East Jamaica Avenue. For more information, contact Cubmaster Patrick Burke at (516) 395-5963 or darthpat17@verizon.net.
