District 13 celebrates student artists

Posted

More than 100 pieces of student artwork were on display for the District 13 Board of Education meeting on May 25. Before the board got down to business, everyone toured the art gallery set up in the main hallway of the James A. Dever School.

Students stood proudly by their artwork and talked about their projects with classmates, parents, teachers, administrators and board members. This year’s theme was “Every child is an artist.”

Linda Roth, assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction, said the administrators always look for new ways to showcase student work for the Board of Education, and to bring parents out to the schools.

“The kids were so excited about it,” she said of the artists who got to showcase their work.

Work was created under the direction of art teachers Stefanie Cacchioli, Michelle Daddino, Monica Nedab, Karen Martorana and Janis Boremski.
