Fernando Botero
This major exhibition showcases one of the most honored Latin American artists working today. Paintings, drawings and monumental sculpture that exemplify Botero’s most familiar themes are on view. Long Island’s Best: Young Artists at The Heckscher
A juried exhibition of works by art students in grades 9 through 12 from more than 50 public and private schools, now in its 14th year. Developed by The Heckscher Museum educators, working in partnership with art instructors from participating schools, this is the only program on Long Island that offers high school students the opportunity to exhibit their art in a professional museum. Miro/Dubuffet/Basquiat

Craft Vendors Needed
The Mill Neck Family of Organizations seeks vendors of handmade items for its Annual Fall Harvest Festival, held on Columbus Day Weekend, Oct. 9-10. A favorite tradition on Long Island, visitors enjoy the Fall Harvest Festival for its crafts, apples, pumpkins, pies, and other treats. Country crafts, including handmade items and holiday gifts, are one of the Festival’s main features. Vendors are assigned an outdoor space (10’x10’), with a table and two chairs. Photo Competition
The Long Island Center of Photography is sponsoring its fourth annual photo competition. All photographers, amateur and professional, are invited to submit their most current work for consideration. All types of photography, from traditional to new media, are accepted. The submission deadline is June 30. Entries will be judged by Bob Shamis, distinguished photographer, consultant, and past curator of Prints and Photographs for the Museum of the City of New York. Winning photos will be exhibited at the African American Museum in Hempstead. Awards and prizes will be presented at an artist’s reception on Sept. 12.
