Spring Dance Concert
Hofstra University dance students salute spring at their annual performance, assisted by guest choreographer David Parker, artistic director of The Bang Group, who will create an exciting new piece on the Hofstra dance majors. Also, Nancy Duncan, producing director of CoDanceCo, Inc. as well as Dancing Classrooms Long Island, will be restaging Bebe Miller’s 1983 work “Guardian Angels.” Works by Hofstra faculty choreographers round out the program.

Sunjata Kamalenya
One of the greatest legends of West African Mandé tradition comes to the Long Island Children’s Museum stage, in an interactive experiential production.The tale tells the saga of a boy who is prophesied to be king, and his loving mother, who must help him to overcome the adversity of a dangerous world filled with sorcery and hostility. The audience becomes immersed and involved in helping to recreate the magical world of 12th century Mali.

Martha Speaks
The not-so-ordinary dog Martha, the beloved furry heroine of Susan Meddaugh’s popular book series (and seen on PBS’s animated television series), appears on stage in Theatreworks USA’s charming new musical. Martha was an ordinary dog until the day she ate a bowl full of alphabet soup. Something unusual happened: all those letters went up to Martha’s brain and she became literally outspoken. See how Martha’s clever way with words saves the day for Martha and her family.
