The building at Rockaway Avenue and Sunrise Highway is finally coming down.

Demolition began late last week on the building at the southeast corner of Rockaway Avenue and Sunrise Highway, the former site of the adult store. It and other neighboring buildings are coming down to make way for a new apartment building, which will include stores on the first floor and 64 housing units above. The village received a $2.5 million grant for the project.
