Members of the Crochet Club at Monica Village sold their handmade items on April 7. Money raised will be used to purchase a pediatric trauma kit for a local elementary school.

So far, the Crochet Club has already raised enough money for four kits, donation one each to Holy Name of Mary, Blessed Sacrament, Wheeler Avenue and Willow Road schools. “We’re working toward our fifth,” Crochet Club President Dorothy Artemisio said.

Shirley Baker, 83, bought an afghan for $20 for when her legs get cold. She said she is an original tenant at Monica Village, having moved in 36 years ago. The Crochet Club sale is just one of many events she goes to. “I look forward to everything,” Baker said. “I love this place with a passion.”

Anita Spizuco was selling used jewelry donated by residents of Monica Village. She said she used to work at Major Jewelers at the Green Acres Mall.

There was also raffle and baked goods at last week’s sale. Artemisio said she put all of the raffle baskets herself which included food and household items.
