Picture this ... Your favorite Italian restaurant — the kind with old world charm, familiar faces, fine wines, and sumptuous family-style dining — is suddenly transported into an exquisite country club setting. Yet, membership at the country club is not necessary. And, nothing else has changed — same food, same chefs and same prices! This is the case with Mezzanote, which was located in Hewlett until a year ago. Now only six minutes away, their new site at Lawrence Yacht & Country Club lets you enjoy the best of both worlds.

Simply put, Mezzanote’s owners, Robin and Frank Cristo, and their long-time staff can now offer the ultimate in everything. With access to numerous venues and rooms within the club, they can cater groups of 20 to 300, with any type of fare or theme. For lunch and breakfast, they are “Mezza on the Green,” offering omelets, wraps, ‘sandwedges’ and other goodies to golfers, Mah Jong players or anyone else who’d like to munch or lunch. There’s also a snack bar to purchase on-the-run eats.

Mezzanote’s patio dining is another lure. There’s an outside bar, plenty of seating, a barbeque pit, and of course, a breath-taking view of the golf course. Guests can enjoy cocktails, appetizers and choices from a light bar menu. Major holiday events don’t only include a New Year’s Eve gala, but also Passover Seders, Fourth of July barbecues and more. Again, you’ll be in a country club … and you don’t have to be a member!

Family-style dining lets you order platters in two sizes (hence, the prices mentioned will include two). Half-sized feeds up to three people, and full, up to five. Servers are impeccably polished, there when you need them, and knowledgeable about the fare. Appetizers, vegetable platters and salads are $9.95/$13.95 to $14.95/$23.95. Soups are $6 or $7. Pastas, which are listed as full but can be requested as half, are $18.95 to $35.95. Veal, poultry and seafood entrees are $17.95/$23.95 to $21.95/$37.95. Lobster might be slightly higher. Desserts, which are usually large enough to share, are $4.50 to $8.95.
