Valley Stream’s Cub Scout Pack 367 held its annual Blue and Gold ceremony on Feb. 28, when 54 of its scouts moved up in rank, according to Cubmaster Patrick Burke. The ceremony was held at the Holy Name of Mary school.
Cub Scouts range in grade level from kindergarten to fifth-grade and each grade corresponds to a rank, with the Arrow of Light being the highest awarded to a Cub Scout, and is the one in which they move up to the troop level.
This was the 65th Blue and Gold Ceremony in Pack 367’s history, Burke said, and each year the graduating scouts pick a theme for the ceremony. This year’s theme was “The Great Outdoors,” and each Blue and Gold features a bridging ceremony during which graduating scouts walk across a bridge symbolizing their stepping over to the next stage of scouting.
