Police: ‘Intoxicated’ driver arrested for hit and run near Green Acres Mall

A Queens man was arrested Nov. 15 for fleeing the scene of a multiple-vehicle crash near the Green Acres Mall, Nassau police said.

Johnathon Fraser, 24, of South Ozone Park, Queens, was driving a four-door Mercedes Benz eastbound on Sunrise Highway, turned onto Green Acres Road, and at about 10:05 p.m., allegedly sideswiped two vehicles that were stopped at a red light.

Of the three drivers and total four passengers, one passenger was transported to a local area hospital with minor injuries.

According to police, an investigation later determined that Fraser was intoxicated.

Police said in a news release that Fraser “refused the officers’ lawful orders and resisted arrest by refusing to be placed into custody and attempted to flee the location.” 

After his arrest, police found Fraser possessed a black revolver, ammunition and “a substance believed to be crack cocaine.”

Fraser as charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of a controlled substance, DWI and resisting arrest. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Nov. 16 in First District Court.
