Police investigate attempted kidnapping in Valley Stream park

Nassau County Police are investigating an attempted kidnapping at a Valley Stream park last Friday night.

According to police, at 7:38 p.m. on Sept. 23, a 16-year-old girl was walking through Hendrickson Park when she noticed a man walking toward her, then passing her on the path. When she reached the bridge in the middle of the park, the man was waiting there. As the girl walked by, the man came up from behind, wrapped both arms around her and whispered "shhh" in her ear.

The girl began to scream and the man released her. The girl then ran away and called police. She was not injured.

The suspect is described as a white man in his early 20s with dark hair and shaved arms, wearing a black T-shirt and khaki shorts, and smelled of smoke.
