Shell gas station robbed

Police are searching for a person who robbed the Shell gas station, at 100 W. Merrick Rd., on Sunday night.

According to Nassau County police, a male subject walked into the station at 10:44 p.m., approached the clerk and told him to move away from the cash register. The subject walked behind the counter and removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the register, then fled on foot east on Merrick Road.

The clerk, who was alone in the store, did not see a weapon, police said. No injuries were reported.

The subject was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, white sneakers and a white cloth covering his face, police said, but no further description was given.
