Overcast Solages wins Assembly primary
Gets Democratic and Working Families nods for November ballot
Michaelle Solages easily won the Sept. 13 primary to run on the Democratic line in November for the newly created 22nd Assembly District.
With more than 80 percent of the vote, she defeated two other challengers. Additionally, she secured the Working Families line.
Solages, of Elmont, defeated Milagros Vicente, of North Valley Stream, and Patricia Maher, of East Meadow. Solages received 2,560 votes to 358 for Vicente and 200 for Maher. On the Working Families line, Solages had 18 votes to 12 for Valley Stream resident Gary D'Annunzio.
“I’m happy that the people of the community supported me," Solages said, "which shows we have common goals for what needs to be achieved. I commend my opponents for a hard fought race.”
She will face off against Republican party nominee Sean Wright in November. The new Assembly district spans from Bellerose to North Woodmere and includes Valley Stream, Elmont and parts of Franklin Square.
Solages, 27, is the sister of first-year Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages and was her party's nominee.
