South High School graduate Shaquille Hodge was named the 2015-16 City University of New York Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Track and Field Performer of the Year this month.

Hodge is a senior at York College, where he is a sprinter. He is a two-time CUNYAC Performer of the Week and had an impressive senior season in which he continually improved throughout the year, according to John Scarinci, the college’s

assistant athletic director and sports information director. Hodge won the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash at CUNYAC Championships on February 28. His times of 6.93 and 22.26 seconds both qualified him for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships. He also held the 20th best time in the nation in the 60-meter dash, although he came up just short of qualifying for the National Collegiate Athletic Association Championships.

Hodge was selected as the Performer of the Year by the member schools’ coaches and sports information directors.

“To be chosen as the Performer of the Year is an honor because CUNY has a lot of good track and field athletes,” Hodge said in a statement. “I feel humbled that they chose me over everyone anyone else.”
