Student orchestra performs at Disney World

Members of South High School’s Chamber Orchestra put their talents on display during a trip to Disney World early this month after they were accepted into a program offered by the theme park.

Orchestra Director Elizabeth Pichichero made a recording of the students and submitted it to the Disney Performing Arts Program, and the group was accepted in June. They began preparing and fundraising in September, with help from the school’s Parents Club.

The students attended a workshop in which they worked with a professional conductor and technician. They were recorded playing music from the movie “Alladin,” and the recording was set to a scene from the film. They performed at the Magic Kingdom and Epcot park.

“The students performed exceptionally!” Pichichero said. “They were so appreciative during their stay at Disney. It was an amazing opportunity.”
