Teens clean up Hendrickson Park

Posted

The Valley Stream Youth Council held its annual clean-up of Hendrickson Park last Saturday morning. Under the direction of Youth Council coordinator Ken Heino and Recreation Supervisor Tom Roberts, the teens scoured the village’s flagship park for wrappers, bottles and other garbage.

The idea for a clean-up came from Dylan Ofri, 16, back when he was a seventh-grader at South High School. He said has seen volunteers cleaning up along of highways, and thought that would be a good community service project for the Youth Council. He was joined on Saturday by Colunis Calvert, 13, Michelle Chen, 14, and Sarah Lamsifer, 14.
